Paul Knott

Paul Arthur Knott, 81, of Iowa Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded with love on Monday, September 23, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Paul was born on October 2, 1942 to Ora W. and Gladys L. (Barnes) Knott in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Paul grew up in Iowa Falls and attended Iowa Falls schools. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1960-1963. His time in service took him to Germany where he made unforgettable memories that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. Paul was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Clemons on June 14, 1964, at the Lutheran Church in Eldora. During his working years, he had a successful career at Iowa Prestressed Concrete as a draftsman. Paul and Shirley enjoyed camping in their younger years. They had a very special group of camping friends that they would play dice and cards with. During their time together they devoted their time to their kids and grandkids. He lost the love of his life, Shirley, on December 24, 2020. This shift in Paul’s life was not easy but he tried his best to fill his time with things that made him happy. Paul continued to spend time with family and friends every chance he could. He also enjoyed scooping the loop, admiring the wood carvings in town, expanding his coin collection, playing cribbage, woodworking and watching westerns and Friday night wrestling. Paul enjoyed having coffee with friends at McDonalds and Dunphy Motors when he could. Paul is survived by his children, Theresa Colorado of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Troy (Kelly) Knott of Palm Coast, Florida; grandchildren: Sydney Knott, Antonio Serros, Andrew Knott and Jayde Serros; great-grandson, Beau; two brothers; many nieces and nephews and two close friends that he referred to as brothers, Ron and Mark Allen. Paul always made a point to remind everyone never to say goodbye, but instead to always say so long. He is being welcomed to heaven by his parents, Ora and Gladys Knott; wife, Shirley Knott; two infant children, Dennis and Crystal; brother, Bob Knott and sisters in-law, Sherri and Mary Clemons. A graveside service for Paul will be held at Northlawn Memory Gardens, with military honors on October 18th, 2024 at 3:00 PM with visitation to follow from 5-7 PM at Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, Iowa Falls, Iowa.
