Donna Wunsch

Donna Wunsch, 81, of Greene, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, May 5, 2025, after an ongoing struggle with Parkinson's and Dementia. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Woodley Funeral Home in Greene. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene. Donna will be laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. Click here to join live broadcast of Donna's Funeral Service Donna Paulette Reed was born July 22, 1943, on her grandparents’ family farm in Greene. She was the daughter of Eleanor (Flora) and Donald Reed. Donna graduated from Greene High School as a member of the class of 1961 where she met her high school sweetheart, Dennis Wunsch. They were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on March 14, 1963, and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. To this union, three children were born - Lynette, Lisa & Jeff. Donna spent her early years raising her kids, working part-time positions and being heavily involved in her children’s activities and the community. Some of these included Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, volunteer at St. Peter Lutheran Church, library story hour, and attending many school events. She had several hobbies; gardening, baking, and sewing were among her favorites. These kept her busy until she returned to school at NIACC to finish her nursing degree. She worked 28 years as a nurse in various capacities eventually retiring from the Greene Medical Center in 2008 and also spent many years as a caregiver for her grandparents and mother. After raising her family, Donna developed new interests with Dennis. Over 35 years of attending car shows resulted in making many new friends. She enjoyed traveling, often being joined by her children in more recent years. Januarys in Florida, Texas, Mississippi and Arizona were among the favorites. She also loved spending time with grandkids and great-grandkids attending birthday parties, holidays and whole family trips including last summer in the Wisconsin Dells. Family was extremely important to her and she often ended visits with a hug and a “love ya lots”. Throughout her life, Donna was known as one of the most kind and caring individuals - always having a positive attitude, strong faith, and a smile to share with others. She will be remembered by her husband Dennis; children Lynette (Brian) Jennings, Lisa Smith, Jeffrey (Jessica) Wunsch; grandchildren Elizabeth (Zach) Kirchenwitz, Erik Smith, Ashley (Austin) Clary, Shannen Jennings, Connor (fiancée Alexa) Wunsch, Carter Wunsch, Nathan Cronk and Alivia Cronk; great-grandsons, Liam & Logan Kirchenwitz and Graham & Luke Clary; brothers Gary (Debra) Reed, Steve (Donice) Reed and in-laws David Botterbrodt, Sharon Wunsch and Don (Marilyn) Wunsch, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be joined in heaven by her parents & grandparents; sister, Barbara “Bobbi” Botterbrodt; brother, James Reed; son-in-law, Ross Smith; and brothers-in-law Marlyn Wunsch & infant Larry. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Donna’s memory to St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Greene Food Bank or any organization of your choice.
