Laura Gail Etzen

Laura Gail Etzen, 94, of Marble Rock, peacefully left this world September 10, 2024, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home. Per her request, no services will be held. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Greene is caring for Laura Gail and her family. Laura Gail, and she was adamant that she be addressed by Laura Gail and not just Laura, was born in rural Greene on May 14, 1930, to John T. and Dorothy G. (Hall) Scott. She was the oldest of their three daughters. She attended Greene School and was a member of the Presbyterian Church and later the Faith Baptist Church of Marble Rock until it closed. On November 28, 1948, Laura Gail was married to Andrew Dallas Etzen, and to this union were born 2 children. They later divorced. When young, she mowed lawns, scooped snow, and worked at a chicken farm south of Greene. She loved roller skating and purchased skates with the money she earned. Laura Gail was a hard worker, she worked many years for the Home Health Care Program for Floyd County Public Health, as well as a chicken farm south of Marble Rock. She also cleaned houses for other people, the bank, churches, the local bar, and library. Laura Gail had a talent for making wood fiber flowers and made flower arrangements for many weddings. She also upholstered furniture as a hobby and had a passion for home decorating. She enjoyed her flowerbeds, as well. In recent years, she enjoyed traveling with her longtime friend, Herb Oelrich, to Arizona in the winters. They also participated in and visited flea markets. Missing her are: Her daughter, Linda (Jeff) Bohl, Dougherty; her son, Jerry (Deb) Etzen, Parker, Colorado; Grandchildren: Robin (Daniel) Guzman, Mason City; Tracy Cook, Sheffield; Chad (Bobbi) Hinrichsen, Rockford; Adam (Jessica) Etzen; Andy Etzen; Alex (Katie) Etzen, all of Colorado. Great grandchildren; Laci (Armando) Martinez, Clear Lake; Levi (Nicole) Lauber, Thornton; Aaron (Sierra) Lauber, Topeka, Kansas: Cortni (Tjaden) Kammrad, Sheffield; Caylee Cook, Minneapolis; Briella and Collin Hinrichsen, Rockford; Kinsley, Ashton, Aspen, Alyvia, Emersyn Etzen, Parker, CO.; Great great-grandchildren: Zaden, Aali, Kindley ,Kai Martinez, Clear Lake; Lane, Westin, Katie Lauber, Thornton; Aksel, Freya Kammrad, Sheffield. Laura Gail loved her family and enjoyed their visits. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Lois Tjarks and Arlene Keller.
