Linda Lea Taylor

Linda Taylor, 69, of Greene, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, surrounded by family and under the care of St. Croix Hospice. Linda fought a courageous battle with lung cancer that she was diagnosed with in 2019. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Greene is caring for Linda and her family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Woodley Funeral Home, 519 N First Street, Greene. Linda was born on December 15, 1954, in Des Moines, IA to Gwylim and Patricia (Vinson) Williams. She was raised in Des Moines and graduated from Des Moines East High School. Linda was united in marriage on May 15, 1982, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA to Jerald “Jerry” Taylor and combined they had 3 children. Linda worked as a dental assistant in Cedar Falls/Waterloo, first responder and Dralles Grocery and Department Store in Greene. Linda and Jerry moved to Greene in 1994 and prior they lived in Finchford, IA. Linda was creative and artistic, she enjoyed making ceramics. She was an avid bowler and involved in a bowling league at the local bowling alley. Linda loved to read and participated in a book club. Her favorite authors included Stephen King and Danielle Steel. She also liked watching her soap opera shows and doing cross word puzzles. Every year she would take a trip with her family to Woman Lake Lodge in Hackensack, MN, where they would do some fishing. She enjoyed feeding the fish in the pond with her grandkids and watching them play in the pond. Linda took several special trips with her sisters-in-law, Kathy and Sonja. They went to New York City, Florida and Italy to name a few; which Linda couldn’t stop talking about. Linda was an incredible mom and nana to her grandkids. She absolutely loved and adored her children and grandchildren. Linda helped raise her grandkids, she was very involved in their lives. Her family was her entire world! Linda was also a wonderful friend and had many friends that loved and adored her. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, nana, sister and friend. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jerry Taylor; son, Zachary (Autumn) Taylor; daughter, Stacey (Seth Chambers) Taylor; step-son, Joseph (Tammy) Taylor; grandchildren: Timothy Taylor, Korey Taylor, Braxton Taylor, Carsten Taylor, Skyler Davis, Trinity Davis, Brandon Davis and Annmarie Chambers; step-granddaughter, Keely Chambers; sister, Julie (George Foertsch) Bates; brother, Gwylim (Tammy Zink) Williams Jr.; brother-in-law, Thomas (Pam) Taylor; sister-in-law, Kathy (Dennis) Hobson; nephew, Matt (Andrea) Hobson; niece, Sonja (Justin) Hobson and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gwylim and Patricia Williams and parents-in-law, Louis and Pearl Taylor.
