Robert Eugene Olsen

Robert Eugene Olsen, 69, of Ackley, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at his home. No services are planned at this time. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls is caring for Robert and his family. Robert (Bob) Eugene Olsen was born on March 28, 1955 to Willard and Frieda (Trout) Olsen in Rapid City, South Dakota. Robert was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. Following high school, Bob attended Indiana/Purdue University for two years. Bob worked for several large retail chains and in tech support for a software company before retiring in 2017 and moving to Iowa, where he worked for Hy-Vee in Eldora. On February 6, 2000, Bob was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Beth) Ellis at the bride’s parent’s home in Eldora, Iowa. Bob was a funny guy, always joking around. He was also very truthful and told you what he thought whether you wanted to hear it or not. Bob met his wife Beth while working at Office Depot in Indianapolis. He ended up building a computer for her. That was the only computer he ever constructed that turned out to have a bad motherboard - he liked to tell this story and say “I had to marry her so she couldn’t sue me.” And then he just laughed and laughed. He could make a joke out of just about anything. Bob would do whatever he could to help people. He had a very kind and generous heart, even though he tried to hide that side of himself. He and his wife were best friends and did everything together. They had a lot of the same interests, except when it came to computers. One of his favorite sayings was “She’s Mac and I’m PC.” Bob also joked he had been “Driving Miss Daisy” ever since his wife lost her right foot three years ago, always having fun with it. “Beth, don't hit me over head with your leg”. His fur baby Emmy will miss her doting daddy. He will also be missed by his “Scooters” girls, always finding excuses to drive to Iowa Falls to get his sugar free caramel latte. Bob will be missed by his beloved wife, Beth Olsen; brothers, John Michael Olsen and Charles Olsen; nieces, Jennifer (Ricky) Wynn, Kimberly (Jeremy Schmult) Olsen, Rebecca Olsen, Jennifer (Chris) Ingledue, Kyra Keith; great-nieces, Kassidy Wynn, Emily Wynn, Natalie Olsen, Alina Olsen, Mia Olsen, Olivia Ingledue, Megan Ingledue, Camryn Keith; great-nephews, Alex Ingledue, Carson Keith and Malakai Massicott; sister in-law, Dottie Rains. Bob was greeted in his Heavenly home by his parents, Willard and Frieda Olsen; his grandparents; aunt, Veleta Sanders; uncle, Vernis (Bud) Sanders and the cherished Mr. B. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to consider a donation to the Greenbelt Humane Society of Iowa Falls in honor of Bob.
