Ty Borcherding

Ty Borcherding, 35, of Hampton, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025 in Dows. A public memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 PM on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory in Hampton. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Memory of Ty, doing what he loved most, golfing. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the family. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Ty and his family. Ty was born on June 13, 1990, in Hampton, Iowa. He was the son of Dan Borcherding of Coulter and Kandi (Pratt) Borcherding of Hampton. Ty graduated from Hampton-Dumont High School with the Class of 2008 and followed his career journey, leading him to his most recent job, Vannguard Utility Partners Inc., where he had numerous friends and memories. Some of Ty’s most precious time was spent with his family. He, his fiancé Angela Horner, and their combined children enjoyed spending the weekends at Prairie Bridges Campground fishing, kayaking, floating, riding the golf cart and sitting by the fire listening to music. Ty had a very competitive spirit, which made him a great volunteer coach for their kids' sporting events. He was always their biggest supporter and fan who encouraged them along the way. Ty loved spending time with his family, especially his kids, Ren and Sloane. Ty had a strong passion for the game of golf, especially when family and friends surrounded him. Sports were always a part of his life, cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones, Chicago Cubs, L.A. Lakers and the Minnesota Vikings. Ty was never a stranger; he was a friend to everyone. His infectious smile and loving heart will be remembered always. His witty comments, smart remarks and silly nature will never be forgotten. We who were lucky enough to get to know Ty loved him beyond measure. He was the definition of a person with a heart of gold and will forever be in our hearts. Left to cherish Ty’s memory are his son, Ren Borcherding and daughter, Sloane Borcherding; mother, Kandi “Pratt” Borcherding (Jeff Voy); father, Dan Borcherding; brother, Dusty Borcherding (Vicki Yaw) of Versailles, Missouri; sister, Kylie Voy (Jack Nauman) of Cedar Rapids; maternal grandparents, Sheldon and Virginia Pratt of Hampton; fiancé, Angela Horner and children, Olivia and Lane Braly of Hampton along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Bernice Borcherding and great-grandparents.
