Virginia Davis

Virginia Davis, 95, of Greene, passed away on April 8, 2026 at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 16, 2026 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene, with a public visitation held one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will immediately follow the service and a private graveside service with family will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Cedar Valley Hospice, 900 Tower Park Dr, Waterloo, IA 50701or Greene Volunteer Ambulance 201 N 2nd St, Greene, IA 50636 in memory of Virginia. Virginia was born on October 17, 1930 in the Butler County town of Austinville to Claude and Esther (Gough) Goodsell. She attended school in Dumont and was a graduate with the class of 1948. After high school, she attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City. On June 17, 1951 she was united in marriage to Dean Davis at the United Methodist Church in Hampton. After Dean was discharged from the United States Army the two made their lives on the farm just south of Greene and remained until they moved into town in 1996. Virginia cherished the time she had with her family and the special memories made at their home next to the Shell Rock River. Virginia was an excellent cook and was always preparing a meal for her family when they would visit. Virginia had a special bond and friendship with her daughter DaMaris. Virginia’s legacy will be carried in the hearts of her children, Brad (Renee) Davis of Clear Lake, Byron (Jane) Davis of Denver, DaMaris (Kelvin) Menken of Greene; four grandchildren: Shane (Andrea) Davis of Orland Park, IL Shawn (Lindsay) Davis of Mason City, Shari Davis of Three Oaks, MI, Lindsay (Clark) Morgan of Eagle Grove; seven great grandchildren: Mack and Mya Morgan of Eagle Grove, Savannah and Sawyer Davis of Mason City, Sydney, Jordyn and Riley Davis of Orland Park. She is also survived by nephew Marvin (Lenny) Miller of Murfreesboro, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, sister Lavon Miller, niece Marilyn Clark, brothers-in-law Charles Miller and Jerry Davis.
