Charlotte Mae Meyer

Charlotte Mae Meyer, 91, of Grundy Center and formerly of the Wellsburg and Iowa Falls area, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Grundy Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday, September 21, 2015 at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley. Burial will be at the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at the Woodley Funeral Home. Woodley Funeral Home, LLC of Iowa Falls is caring for Charlotte and her family. 641-648-7700. Charlotte Mae Meyer was born October 9, 1923 in Morgan Township, Franklin County, Iowa to Earl and Harriet (Campbell) Korth. She grew up and attended rural schools in Morgan Township and graduated from Dows High School in 1943. After graduation she worked at Hemingway Restaurant in Dows. On November 16, 1949 Charlotte was married to Alvin Meyer of Iowa Falls, Iowa at the Morgan Methodist Church. To this union three children were born: Elsie, Darlene and Leslie. Their entire married life was spent on the family farm near Iowa Falls. Following Alvin’s death, Charlotte moved to Iowa Falls in 1976. She later moved to the farm in Morgan Township in 1991. She worked for seven years at the Boondocks Restaurant near Williams and seventeen years at Riverside Book and Bible in Iowa Falls. Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family as well as gardening, sewing, playing cards and bingo. She liked to spend time crocheting and doing embroidery. Charlotte is survived by her children, Elsie (Jeff) Ritt of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, Darlene (Michael) Caley of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Leslie (Alana) Meyer of Ackley, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Korth of Dows, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, six step- great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her parents; a sister, Loretta Paulsen and brother-in-law, Elmer Paulsen; one brother, Delverin Korth and two sons-in-law, Gale Swedberg and David Swedberg. Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice or to the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit.
